The things we do...

OUTDOOR LEARNING

We went to harvest apples

Some had blown off the tree

We all helped to pick them up

apples

apples

Some of the apples on the tree were too high
to reach

apples

We could pick them ourselves
if we stood on some steps

apples

We took the apples back to playgroup

We found out

apples

Some were big, some were medium sized,
and some were small

apples

Some were heavy

apples

We found out how many apples
we had collected

We cut and cooked the apples

We tasted the apples

Look at our apple trees

Our Reggio Emilia discovery area

Reggio Emilia is in northern Italy, and has become famous for its schools and their approach to learning. Fundamental to the Reggio approach is a respect for children's natural curiosity and creativity.

It encourages experimentation to form theories as to how things work, and why things happen. The approach places a lot of emphasis on the finding out by 'hands on' experience.

Reggio Emilia schools always include areas in which children can experiment with light, dark, mirrors, and colour.

To see pictures of other things we've done and places we've been, click here. (Includes 'writing' our own stories, visit to Lifeboat station, work with colour, Chinese New Year, a visit by a Vet,
and a visit to the Road Safety Centre in Cardiff.)
